Toy
There have virtually always been toys for children to
play with—usually there is a special toy that a child will become
attached to—and then later on, a different toy. Years ago, you
would often find children playing with wooden toys purchased or even
homemade by their parents, usually their fathers or grandfathers. Many
people had home wood and leather workshops especially for that purpose.
Then, of course, the toy market evolved, as most merchandise on the
market will. A toy is now much more than just a red wooden car or hand-painted
doll. Now there are interactive toys such as portable video games, plastic,
glittery, factory-made ponies and Barbie dolls, and much, much more.
Every toy can be a special part of a child’s life. Often people
will keep their oldest toy as a memento or to pass on to his or her
own children.
There are also toys that people collect such as special edition porcelain
dolls, old Star Wars figurines from years ago still in their never-opened
boxes. If you are a toy collector—it seems there is no end to
the possibilities of what kinds of toys you can collect. But an enthusiastic
toy collector usually knows exactly what he or she wants for their collection.
